The governor noted that Missouri’s participation in the federal 287(g) program has strengthened cooperation between state and federal authorities by allowing greater coordination on immigration enforcement and criminal investigations.

Historic Flooding Triggers Massive Rescue Mission

During the same interview, Governor Kehoe also addressed Missouri’s response to historic flooding that struck parts of the state after approximately 12 inches of rain fell within a matter of hours.

Emergency crews carried out more than 350 rescues, including over 200 children and adult counselors evacuated from a riverside youth camp.

The Missouri National Guard deployed Black Hawk helicopters alongside Missouri Task Force One, local law enforcement agencies, volunteer firefighters, and emergency responders to move stranded residents to safety.

While officials confirmed at least one fatality, Governor Kehoe praised first responders for preventing what could have been a far greater tragedy through rapid coordination and emergency response.
