McIntosh pointed to criticism surrounding Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner after Senator Chris Murphy reportedly suggested that the party should consider replacing its nominee. He also claimed Murphy had removed previous statements in which he publicly supported Platner, describing the situation as evidence of growing divisions within the Democratic Party.

According to McIntosh, Democratic leaders are finding it increasingly difficult to balance the demands of the party’s progressive wing with concerns about appealing to moderate voters in competitive races.
