Oklahoma City marked a major milestone this month with the official groundbreaking of the future Continental Coliseum, a new downtown arena expected to open in 2028. The project is the latest in a series of investments positioning the city for continued growth in sports, tourism, and logistics.

Continental Coliseum Groundbreaking

City leaders, civic partners, and development officials gathered to break ground on the arena, which will serve as a centerpiece for downtown entertainment and economic activity. These private investments complement public efforts to prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games. Oklahoma is investing more than $100 million in upgrades to Devon Park (softball) and RIVERSPORT (canoe/kayak) to host Olympic competitions, along with athlete housing at Oklahoma City University. The investments are designed to leave lasting infrastructure that benefits the community long after the Games conclude.
